Hey guys! I'm teaming up with Eggo to show y'all how to create the perfect waffle bar experience for your summer get togethers. I was inspired by my visit to the Eggo Waffle Bar Truck that stopped by my hometown last week, and wanted to create my own waffle bar for book club. Our group meets once a month and always pick a book that we can watch a show or movie with.

Walmart had everything I needed to build my waffle bar, and while I was there I got to try out an Eggo Waffle with seasonal fruit at The Eggo Waffle Truck. The Waffle Bar Truck will move a total of 200 times over 100+ days. Started in April and will continue through September! Eggo is traveling the country in a food truck through September, and you can see where the Eggo Waffle Truck is at using this tracker
below.

1. Start with different waffles

I like to give people options when creating a waffle bar so I used two different types of Eggo Waffles: Chocolatey Chip Waffles and Homestyle Waffles. Delicious News! Eggo waffles now have no artificial flavors and colors from natural sourcesI'm planning of offering both sweet and savory options for my bar, so the Homestyle will act as a great base for my recipe later on.

2. Offer Protein

Protein is a great way to beef up (pun intended) your waffle bar and make it more satisfying. I'm offering some Banquet Brown 'N Serve Original Sausage Links and deli prosciutto from Walmart. I personally love savory breakfast/brunch dishes and these Banquet Sausages were super easy to make a batch of. I just browned them in a pan for a bit, but you could just as easily microwave them quickly if you're in a rush or want to make sure they're super hot for when people are ready to eat.

3. Make it Fresh

Whether your guests are choosing to create a savory or sweet (or a little of both), adding fresh ingredients is a great way to elevate your bar. I used fresh strawberries and raspberries for a seasonal spin, and chopped green onions and Italian parsley to add serious flavor. Fresh ingredients are such a great shout out for summer.

4. Think about toppings

Again, consider both sweet and savory toppings to give people lots of options to experiment. I went with Great Value Italian Style cheese, Hungry Jack Syrup, and strawberry jelly. After the my friends arrived I realized chocolate chips would've been another great option.

5. Style your Table

Since my waffle bar was for book club, I used some books to help elevate some dishes and decorate the table. If you aren't hosing a themed event like book club, go for fresh flowers as decorations for a seasonal touch.

I also used simple plates I had on hand and glass Tupperware to display my fresh ingredients. Don't forget to lay out forks, plates, and napkins; I kept my forks in a mason jar and chose to use cloth napkins to make it a little fancier.

My Savory Italian Eggo Waffle

So with the options I laid out I created this delicious savory Italian Eggo Waffle that completely blew my mind with flavor. I started with one Eggo Homestyle Waffle and topped it with 2 tablespoons of finely shredded Italian style cheese from Great Value. Then I piled up about 2 ounces of prosciutto, and topped it off with about 1 tablespoon of freshly chopped chives.

The prosciutto balanced out by the mellow cheese, and the chopped chives added so much flavor. Savory brunch options seem so much more filling to me you can read the nutritional info for this dish below.

  1. I love waffles! Their Mickey waffles are my favorite! I love sweet foods at breakfast or brunch and I usually just stick with a classic maple syrup topping for my waffles.

    1. I know! Normally I never have enough time to sit down for breakfast so I don't eat them with syrup often lol
