The only back to school essentials you'll really use

school, college, back to school, backpack, sakroots, printed backpack, agenda, planners, notebooks,

I'm actually excited to get back into classes later this month, but all these articles have me going crazy about things you absolutely positively must buy for back to school. Today, Sakroots is sponsoring this post on the back to school essentials you'll actually need and use.

1. Backpack

Unless you just like spending all your money–which can be a lot of fun in the moment– you don't need to buy a backpack every semester. And really, doing so can get expensive. The one pictured below is the Sakroots Flap Backpack, which I have been in LOVE with because it's durable and insanely cute.

I honestly don't see how people carry all their stuff around in those oversized totes. On a busy day last semester, I'd have three text books, a binder, my laptop and tons of pens and random junk that was almost all completley necessary. I also don't get why people single strap their backpacks, so not worth the pain. Also just realized I'm single strapping it in my pictures, but my backpack was filled with crumpled newspapers, so no back pain lol.

2. Pencil case

There are tons of cute pencil cases out there and this one just happen to come with and match my backpack. I got into a friends car last semester, and her entire cupholder was stuffed with pens and highlighters. She was saying that she always ends up leaving them in her car instead of in class where she needs them.

Side tip: Collect free, crummy pens and keep them in your bag to lend to people. I call them lending pens. Last semester, a classmate asked to borrow one of my $7 engineering pencils during the final and I sat outside waiting for her to finish to get it back. Was so not embarrassed about it...

3. Planner

If you aren't using a planner to keep up with your course work you should run, not walk, to your nearest office supplies store. A planner is a college student's number one tool when it comes to staying organized and on top of class work, extracurriculars and life in general.

Staying organized during the school year is all about finding a planner or system that works for you. Find a planner that's cute and durable to last you the whole year. This one is the Sakroots Agenda in the the pattern Radiant One World and is only $20.
